CMS Reporting: Federal Tax ID Format

What format should Tax ID data be entered into a CR record?

Answer -

Remove the hyphen/dash character(s)

Federal Tax ID numbers normally have 2 digits then a dash then remaining digits (XX-XXXXX).  For submitting data uniformly and to prevent rejection of files you will want to remove the dash/hyphen (-) CMS looks for the data without dashes.
