Question -
What are the differences between the various downloadable reports and what formats are they in?
Answer(s) -
Nearly all reports downloaded from the system will be on a CSV file, however the contents of these files differ greatly from one another.
-The Submittable Report is generated in the format specifies by the governing body you are reporting to. These are often Pipe delimited CSV files which contain all of your submittable transactions for the specified Jurisdiction.
*Due to the report needing to be in this format, it is recommended that you do not open and save this report before submitting. Opening the submittable report in Excel will change the format of the report and result in errors upon submission. If you would like to review the data within the Submittable report, open the human readable Jurisdiction report instead.
-The Jurisdiction Report is the same overall report as the submittable but it is not a delimited file and should not change in formatting when reviewing the data. This allows you to review your data prior to submitting without negatively impacting your submittable report.
-The Exclusion Report contains all of the records which were excluded from your submittable report. These reports have a column which indicates the reason for the record being excluded from your submittable report.
-The Validation Report provides you with the list of records where your data does not appear to line up with known information and a validation error has occurred. The reason for the validation error is listed on the report.
-The CMS Comparison Report is used to show you how your data compares to the CMS Validations Physician list. If your information is slightly off at the time you generate your report, you may notice that some of the information you have listed for the CR has been replaced with the data listed on the VPL. This is normal and simply acts as an additional final check to ensure your data will be accepted by CMS.
-Submission/Re-submission report is designed for you to extract the list of records which have been submitted previously to review, or to resubmit. This report is similar in format to the jurisdiction report but it only lists the Home System ID of the record, the Submission status, and the submission ID received from CMS. This report will be phased out post 4.10.0.
Other data on this file may not reflect accurately to your Jurisdiction report if a third party source data must be referenced during report generation.
I.E. If you are reviewing this report and noting values in the wrong place for Teaching Hospitals - CR type showing non entity and the name appearing in the non-entity field. This is because your records have been marked 'submitted', are excluded from the report, and are therefore not compared to the Teaching Hospital list to validate these values.
