Question -
I am looking to modify the details of an existing nature and purpose but do not want to impact spend from previous years currently using the nature and purpose mapping.
Is there a way to deactivate my existing Nature and purpose from today and going forward - then create a new nature and purpose mapping in its place to assign new/future spend to?
Answer -
Yes - you will want to modify the nature and purpose mapping so that it contains start and end dates which align with what you are looking to see.
To deactivate a nature and purpose mapping you will first want to locate the nature and purpose in the tools >Nature and Purpose Mappings page.
Once you have located the proper nature and purpose from the list or utilizing the search function, view/edit the nature and purpose.
You will notice that there is a deactivate button below the mapping description fields - I reccomend not using this option - simply set an end date for the mapping. Selecting the 'Deactivate' button will deactivate the mapping entirely and it cannot be re-activated at a future date.
Instead use the start and end dates to your advantage. Set the End date of your mapping to the current date. View edit the associated Alias' as well and set an end date on the alias' as well.
You can now create a new mapping for the same nature and purpose. Set the start date to the day AFTER the previous mapping was deactivated(so if you set the initial mapping to expire on today's date, the new mapping must begin tomorrow or after).
If your mapping has any, you will also want to ensure that you add the same Alias' in as well, with a start date matching the new start date of your mapping.
